Here are some of the frequently asked questions that we get regarding wedding photography.
Q: How would you describe your wedding photography style?
- A: We blend several different styles including, documentary or photo-journalism, fashion, fine art and a smidge of traditional photography. We prefer to document your day as it unfolds and then schedule some time to do some fun and unique portraits of the bride and groom as well as the wedding party.
Q: Are you available for destination weddings and weddings outside of the Greater St. Louis and Metro Area?
- A: Yes! We are available for destination weddings and events that take place anywhere in the country. Contact us for more information.
Q: Do you retouch your photos?
- Absolutely. All final prints and album images are completely touched up. Proofs are color corrected only.
Q: Is there a fee for retouching or color correction?
- A: Not unless extensive editing is required. Things like removing braces, head swaps or background changes are considered extensive.
Q: What options do I have for viewing my wedding images?
- A: We offer online proofing for all of our sessions including weddings. We are going “green” and no longer offer printed proofs with our photography packages. However, if you wish, you can order proofs for an additional fee.
Q: When can I see my wedding pictures?
- A: Usually within 3 to 4 weeks your proofs will be online for you to view.
Q: How long are images archived? What if I want to purchase prints or a gallery canvas a year after our wedding date? Can we still access our images?
- A: Wedding images are kept online in your personal viewing gallery for one year from the date they are uploaded. After the first year the images are then archived. Our archive consists of multiple locations and media allowing for the best possible storage. If at any time you wish to purchase additional prints or products all you need to do is contact us!
Q: Do you offer the high-resolution digital files on disc?
- A: Yes. All of our wedding photography packages include the digital images of the pictures that you choose to have included in your bridal album. Some Wedding Photography Collections include all of your wedding day images. All of the digital images will be in .jpg form on a DVD disc. All of the images are touched up and are suitable for reprinting any print size up to an 8 inch by 12 inch photograph. You will also receive a print release allowing you to reprint the images given to you on the disc.
Q: What is a copyright? Can I buy the rights to my images?
- A: Copyright is a form of protection provided by the laws of the United States (title 17, U.S. Code) to the authors of “original works of authorship,” including, literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works. So, to answer the question, no, you cannot purchase the rights to the images. The studio will always own the original copyright. We provide you with a ‘print release’ which will allow for you to make your own prints from the disc that is given to you. We do register all of our work.
Q: How many pictures will you take?
- A: It really depends on the amount of coverage. Typically, 70 to 100 images per hour is standard, but not guaranteed. We will take as many images as we feel necessary to fully cover and document your wedding day.
Q: Who will be the photographer at my wedding?
- A: Robin will be the primary photographer, unless she is already booked. If Robin is booked, Stephanie is next in line! (and YES, she does awesome work!) The second photographer (if you elect to have one) will either be Jennica or Stephanie.
Q: Do you shoot digital or film? What kind of equipment do you use?
- A: We shoot 100% digital. Robin will only use Canon professional equipment and products (because it is the BEST!) which includes camera bodies, lenses, flashes, filters and much more. Stephanie uses Canon as well, but, Jennica……well, she chooses to shoot with Nikon.
Q: How do I choose my album? Can I customize it? What about upgrades?
- A: With certain wedding photography packages you get a certain type of album. Upgrades are always available, including, upgrading the size, amount of pages, page finishes and much, much more. Designing your album is a collaborative effort. Once you have decided which images you would like to have included in your wedding album, we will get together and go over all of the different options available to you. We can usually let you know how the minimum and maximum amount of images that will fit in the albums we carry. Once your bridal album has been designed, we will send you proofs to view. We do not send your album to print until you authorize us to do so.
Q: When can I get my album and/or digital images?
- A: After your album has been created and printed, we will contact you so that you can pick-up all of your goodies! For our clients that live out-of-town, we will ship everything to you. All of the photographic items (albums, digital images, canvas gallery wraps, etc.) that are a part of your Wedding Photography Collection are given to you at once. We do not split up orders.
Q: Can you hold my date without a deposit?
- A: Unfortunately, no. To book your wedding date we require a signed contract and non-refundable deposit.
Q: What type of payments do you accept?
- A: We accept PayPal, cash, personal checks, money orders and all major credit and debit cards.
Q: What is continuous coverage? Can I split my time on my wedding day?
- A: Continuous coverage begins the moment that we take the first image and ends at the time frame that you have booked us. We do not split time (in between ceremony and reception times) as usually that is when we do the bride/groom portraits, wedding party and so on.
Q: Will you work off of a shot list that we have created?
- A: Sure! We will do our best to get all of the images that you want for your wedding day, however, please remember that we cannot guarantee every single shot on your list.
